Bats & Birds

Bats are a natural reservoir for a large number of zoonotic pathogens including rabies, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), Henipavirus and possibly Ebola virus. Their high mobility, broad distribution and social behavior (communal roosting, fission-fusion social structure) make bats favorable hosts and vectors of disease.

Common potential roosting places:

  • Attics
  • Chimneys
  • Barns
  • Soffits
  • Behind Shutters
  • Siding

  • Inspection to determine areas where bats are roosting
  • Close examination of the structures identified as potential roosting areas
  • Graphing openings larger than 12″ in diameter (making note of any dark pellet like droppings on walls)

Bats can return from up to 150 miles away, so moving bats may not solve your problem. You must utilize the best system of exclusion and bat proofing. Seal all possible crevices on all sides of buildings, while leaving an escape hatch for the bats to leave. This is done in a manner where the bats can leave, but they cannot re-enter the structure

Pest Management, Inc. will come out and perform a free property inspection of the problem structure to design an exclusion program for the structure.
